My Experience

I have nearly 10 years of experience with marketing, information architecture, interaction design, strategy, and usability work. Working at some of the best companies has afforded me the opportunity to work with some amazing teams, interesting user communities and very talented co-workers.

I do the research- Fishing out information early from the user and studying their mental model drastically improves the end product with the least amount of re-work.Engineering is expensive and so is time. Knowing what the customer wants before hand reduces design issues and stops the seemingly endless "what if" scenarios dead in their tracks. A combination of user personas and scenarios coupled with customer interviews is essential to creating a successful product.

I love to whiteboard - Everything starts on the whiteboard. Quickly working through ideas with my team on the whiteboard is the easiest, quickest, and most dynamic way to get ideas on the table. Drawing is a passion of mine so drawing concepts on the whiteboard is an easy way to get the idea out of my head and into the heads of others.

I understand audience- The more information about the potential users and their mental model, I can uncover the better the end product will be. Gaining understanding of what the audience wants and needs is always a major key to my successful projects.

It's all about usability - I subscribe to the mantra of "Test early and test often." Waiting until the last minute to do usability testing is the downfall of any successful product. Knowing the usability issues in the early stages of development helps an organization adapt quickly and efficiently to design flaws and helps safeguard customer delight. After all, a happy customer is a happy return on investment!
