Founded in 1996,
ApplianceWare provides software solutions for the rapidly growing Network
Attached Storage (NAS) market. ApplianceWare's software enables OEM's,
Value Added Resellers (VARS), and Systems Integrators to offer highly
integrated NAS server solutions that are reliable, feature rich, scalable,
and provide high performance. ApplianceWare's NAS specific software is
a complete operating system and storage management application that allows
network administrators to easily and cost effectively deploy, configure,
manage and maintain multiple NAS servers in complex, heterogeneous network
environments.
Originally founded
as REALM Information Technologies in Atlanta by its President and CEO,
Stacy Kenworthy, the company has been a consistent development leader
in the Linux community. As a founding board member of Linux International
and a sponsor of several Linux development efforts, the company has been
at the forefront of Linux advancements into the server and appliance markets.
With the early success
of the company's Optical NAS software "ApplianceWare," the company progressed
into the rapidly growing HDD NAS market. Early adoption of its software
allowed the company to concentrate all of its resources specifically on
NAS solutions. Following the heels of this success, REALM relocated from
the east coast to California in 1999 and changed its name to the more
industry-familiar ApplianceWareTM. Continual development of advanced NAS
features and greater performance has allowed ApplianceWare to position
itself as a leading software provider to the burgeoning Mid-Range NAS
sector.
Backed by investors
including Wit Soundview, Inc., Oppenheimer Funds, Scudder Kemper Investments
and Sidus Investment Management, ApplianceWare is headquartered in Fremont,
California, placing it strategically in the midst of valuable technology
resources from Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and East Bay communities.
Today, ApplianceWare
employs 48 people in three locations, including a development center in
Minsk, Belarus and an Asia Operations Center in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The company's
software enjoys a growing reputation for its unparalleled performance,
extreme reliability, and comprehensive feature set, all factors, which
have assisted the Asia sales operation to recently secure significant
deals with EpoX Computers' 3Ds division and eStorage during its first
month of operation in 2001.
